DIY room decoration: pictures on the wall

I do not like to hang things on my wall by using nails as I hate it when you want to change the decoration and you have a nail in the wall in the wrong place or just a big hole which you have to cover somehow. So I figured it would be amazing to use some sort of string (hemp rope) and funny wooden clips!
If you wanna have a colourful and cheap decoration for your room or dorm room where you can not paint the walls or hit nails in the walls, this is an option for you:
1- print out some lovely and colourful pictures
If you have a favourite city or favourite pictures, motivational notes they are perfect for brighten your mood!
2- Buy some funny looking clips.
Mines are from eBay and the whole package of them was less than a dollar!

3- tie a knot on your rope ...
...so you can pin it to your bookshelf for example. This is not a necessary step as I just tied mine to the shelf.

4- Pin the pictures onto the rope
 and it is done!

As you can see mine is above my bed and it brightens my mood every single time I look at it! I change the pictures as the season changes and at Christmas time I even put some fairy-lights above it!
I hope you liked my little idea of room decoration,
you can find lovely paper clips here !

February favourites

Hi guys,
It is almost the end of February, can you believe it? It's been such a busy month!
I collected my favourites and without further introduction, let's check them!
1. Microwaveable bunny
Yes, yes it is a thing. Mine is from New Look and I'm crazy about it! It is a life-saver! Basically, it is just like a hot-water-bottle but better as you can just pop it into the microwave, heat it up and it keeps the heat throughout -almost- the whole night! The best for cramps and cold nights!

2. Duvet cover set from H&M

It is really comfortable and really pretty! Amazing quality for a great prize! You can find their products here :)

3. Clinique Happy perfume

At first I didn't like the smell of it. At all. After spraying it on myself and waiting for 5 minutes I began to like it and now I just love it! Note to self: when choosing a perfume give it time to develop itself as there isn't two people with the same scent so the same perfume won't have the same scent on everybody.

3. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

This book is amazing! If you haven't read it yet, you definitely should!

4.Clinique all about eyes serum de-puffing eye massage (roll-on anti-poches yeux)
The title says it all! This stuff is amazing!!!!

5. Clinique high impact mascara
Another Clinique product which I love! I am not crazy about this brand as it is quite expensive but there are some products which worth the prize and this is definitely one! I was a bit sceptical about it as I tried one of their mascaras before and it did not last long but since I figured out how to keep mascara on my face (yay) this works wonders on my lashes and I love, love, love it!

6. Ikea notebooks

University started again this month and I really needed some extra motivation! Ikea makes some amazing stationary stuff and they brighten my days! If you want some nice quality, funny notebooks and stationary products for quite a good prize, go to Ikea!

7. L'occitane shea butter hand cream

I have dry skin. No that does not explain the reality. I have terribly dry skin! In this cold weather this is a life-saver and lasts forever as you only need a little bit of it! Another thing I love about this hand cream that it does not give you that oily- feeling after using it! Great product!!!
You can find it here.

Hope you liked this little collections of my monthly favourites!
Have a lovely weekend!

Alexandra

Advantages and disadvantages of an E-book reader

I love books. I am crazy about them. It is such an easy and amazing way to disappear from the every-day life, the stress and it paints us many pictures of human nature.
So when it came to deciding whether to buy an e-book reader or not I could have not been calm until I hadn't got one.
Now I've used it for a long-long time so I though I'd give you my opinion about it.
I have a kindle one, the type is D01100 and it only has a 6" screen. It does not have a touch-pad, does not have the "white paper" look. So it is a really simple version.
You can check it on Amazon if you click here :)
I do not regret buying it though. When I had to decide on spending more money and buying a better version or buying this one, I made the right decision. I love it!
Advantages?
Many!
I travel a lot. I go home from uni every single week for the weekend, which is a one hour long staring-at-nothing-trip on the train. I used to carry many stuff, as I always took one or two of my enormous books which I use at the university- and that is heavy- and I tend to read something fun just to get my mind off of things so I carried my other book with me, too. Now that made me quite fit, but was really uncomfortable. Same goes to holidays: I took 3 or 4 books, which took a serious pace in my suitcase. This e-book reader solve these problems! If I have the chance I read the paper-version of books -as I still prefer those- but every other occasions I take my e-book reader everywhere I go.
It is so small and light: it fits all my purses and bags, I can carry it around and it won't add extra weight to my package!
Kindle also offers you a great amount of free books to choose from! That is so cool I do not have to explain it any further!
Disadvantages?
For me there is only one: it does not smell like books. This is a big one, but I think I can live with that for as long as they do not invent a perfume, which smells like books and which you can spray all over your e-book rader... aww... would be awesome!!!!
What do you think about e-book readers?
Have a lovely weekend,
love
Alexandra

Window shopping- New Look

Part1 - dresses
I could not help myself... I had to check New Look's web page. However, I promised myself that I'll only check one kind of clothes at a time, so my firs chose was dresses. I love them. I just love the fact that with a dress you can get ready in minutes (ok, if we do not count make-up...and that half hour pondering on which shoes and which cardigan to choose...) and that you can really, truly get that romantic vibe with them. As it is February, I can mention Valentine's day, though many of us do not like it so I do not want to go into the topic more.
Anyway, as I want to renew my wardrobe - I mentioned this in my earlier post- I was in great search of new dresses and here are my choices. Blue. I know. Most of these dresses are blue- it is my favourite colour...yeah I thing you guessed that by now- though I think it is a good choice at this time of the year. The other reason is, that sometimes I feel too anxious to wear bright colours, as that makes people stare at you - in awe of course, staring at your beauty- and I do not like to be in the middle of the attention. I hope that this will change soon. Though I have to admit that red dress just made me fall in love again and again.
So let's check them out

1. Blue Bird Print Turn Up Sleeve Shirred Waist Dress for £14.99
This is just awwww... it gives me the feeling that spring is almost here! Can you imagine this one with nude or the same coloured high heels? I surely can!

2.Mela Navy Button Side Sleeveless Dress for £25.00
This dress has an amazing colour and think that would flatter everyone with every kind of shapes!

3.Black Contrast Collar Tunic Dress
Sadly, the last time I checked this, it wa out of stock..... Though if we play with the thought, it would be perfect for going out with your friends. It is amazing in this cold weather, as it would look great with thick black thights and black ankle boots!

4. Pink Paisley Print Short Sleeve Tunic Dress £17.99
Romantic style and the perfect combination of colours... do you need anything else? Perhaps some fancy tights and a pair of black or red ankle boots...

5.Dark Green Check Lightweight Tunic Dress for £19.99
I still can not get enough of this style. If you have not tried it yet, go for it!

6.Black Check Pinafore Dress for £24.99
This is perfect for colder weather as you can wear a black or nearly any coloured long or short sleeved t-shirt under it. Personally, I would go for a burgundy coloured t-shirt!

7.Cameo Rose Grey Fine Knit Roll Neck Tunic Dress £17.99
If you are into a much more sporty (is it even a word?..nah sure it is) style, this is your dress! It is that perfect "in between" item, that I would wear all the time as it must be really comfortable and yet, it looks amazing!

8.Cutie Red Textured Lace Panel Tie Back Dress for £28.00
This is pure perfection! I am totally in love. It is terribly romantic and yet not that too- too -too sweet- looking dress. I would wear it on a date for sure!

well lovelies, I hope you like my little rumbling on dresses and find your favourite pieces on New Look or any other websites. What do you think of these?

till the next time, smileeeeee, you are beautiful ;)

love,
Alexandra

Wardrobe renovation

Today I was walking around the shopping mall, searching for the perfect birthday presents for my mom and for my brother. I could not stop myself and I had to check a few stores.....
Then I figured it out: I have many many many clothes but I do not like half of it. Either I got bored of them or I just bought them in that period of my life when I could not care less and bought comfy but “nothing special” clothes. Comfort is a really important thing indeed, however, I think it is also essential that you can use one piece for various outfits. And that is the biggest disadvantage of my wardrobe.

For me it is also hard to keep track of the clothes as I live in thee places at once. Have some of my stuff at home, half of it in my flat-since I'm studying in a different city- and some of it at my boyfriend's.

So I decided. I'll make a list of the basic and essential clothing items which I need and I'll check the market and see if I like it and make a plan: I will buy it when I have the money for it, as it is important to treat yourself with new stuff but it is also important to have money for everything else that you need.

In my opinion it is a big big mistake that we often make: want to buy everything at once, then new items come out which you like better and bumm, you have a wardrobe full of unworn clothes.

So let's see.
I think a wardrobe needs:
- 3 jumpers (in different colors, 1 of them must be plain)
- 3 long sleeved t-shirts – as the weather can be between warm and cold
- 2 cardigans- again, one plain
- a skirt which you can wear with t-shirts and pullovers, too
- 2 jeans
- 3 shirts/blouses – these can be colorful or plain, you can wear them under the jumpers or they go well with almost everything.
- a blazer – black is always a good choice
- 2 dresses – which are amazing when you have no idea what to wear
- that little black/other color dress- which is just perfect when you're going out

so now, you just have to go and check your closet. There are some amazing sales out there right now, it is a good time to rethink and renew your autumn/winter/spring wardrobe

have a lovely day!
Love,

Alexandra
