Today I was walking
around the shopping mall, searching for the perfect birthday presents
for my mom and for my brother. I could not stop myself and I had to
check a few stores.....
Then I figured it
out: I have many many many clothes but I do not like half of it.
Either I got bored of them or I just bought them in that period of my
life when I could not care less and bought comfy but “nothing
special” clothes. Comfort is a really important thing indeed,
however, I think it is also essential that you can use one piece for
various outfits. And that is the biggest disadvantage of my wardrobe.
For me it is also
hard to keep track of the clothes as I live in thee places at once.
Have some of my stuff at home, half of it in my flat-since I'm
studying in a different city- and some of it at my boyfriend's.
So I decided. I'll
make a list of the basic and essential clothing items which I need
and I'll check the market and see if I like it and make a plan: I
will buy it when I have the money for it, as it is important to treat
yourself with new stuff but it is also important to have money for
everything else that you need.
In my opinion it is
a big big mistake that we often make: want to buy everything at once,
then new items come out which you like better and bumm, you have a
wardrobe full of unworn clothes.
So let's see.
I think a wardrobe
needs:
- 3 jumpers (in
different colors, 1 of them must be plain)
- 3 long sleeved
t-shirts – as the weather can be between warm and cold
- 2 cardigans-
again, one plain
- a skirt which you
can wear with t-shirts and pullovers, too
- 2 jeans
- 3 shirts/blouses –
these can be colorful or plain, you can wear them under the jumpers
or they go well with almost everything.
- a blazer – black
is always a good choice
- 2 dresses –
which are amazing when you have no idea what to wear
- that little
black/other color dress- which is just perfect when you're going out
so now, you just
have to go and check your closet. There are some amazing sales out
there right now, it is a good time to rethink and renew your
autumn/winter/spring wardrobe
have a lovely day!
Love,
Alexandra
